Digital Ilustration of an overview of the 3d model and texture blending of the Royal Complex of Évora in the mid-16th century.
Évora 3D
The Évora 3D project results from the collaboration between the City Council and the University of Évora, through its research centers, CIDEHUS and CHAIA, with the goal of a virtual reconstitution of the city in long time perspective. In the national and international context, the use of new technologies has led to the diversification of this type of proposal, both at the urban level and at the level of reconstitution of concrete spaces. The application of this model to Évora, contemplating several chronological periods, seems to impose itself in a city that was one of the most important of the kingdom in the medieval and modern periods, as a court city, and that is currently classified as a World Heritage Site.
The aim of the Évora 3D project is a deeper knowledge of the city in its different historical periods, based on a systematization of the numerous studies already done and a methodical survey of primary sources and archaeological data, combined with a spatial reading of the city itself. The project is developed through two strands: the urbanistic evolution and the socioeconomic dynamics, connecting people to spaces. In this sense, and given the very design of the project, the complementarity of resources and the combination of scientific and technical knowledge amply supports the pursuit of the proposed goals.
